The name Sprezz comes from the Italian concept of 'Sprezzatura;' meaning effortless elegance. By definition; Sprezzatura [Sprez • Za • Tu • Ra] implies a certain nonchalance. Today; the brand's goal is to create beautiful; high-quality tableware that brings moments of joy and sprezzatura to everyday life. Ribbon Collection designed by AD100 Designer Adam Charlap Hyman of Charlap Hyman & Herrero; New York and Los Angeles based architecture and design firm. The ribbons on the plates are inspired by a series of prints of citrus fruits made in the 17th and early 18th centuries. In the botanical illustrations; the ribbons bear the names of individual varieties of lemons; limes; oranges; bergamots; and grapefruits. We loved the idea of each of the ribbons appearing as if they had been blown across a table and landed perfectly on each plate. The ribbon design was originally painted by the artist Pilar Almon.
